and 30 years with the company

On February 5th 2012 Berndt Zingrebe, managing director of Sill Optics in Wendelstein, celebrates his 70th birthday. He is looking back on 30 years commitment to the company in 2012. He has been directing the long-standing company, which was founded in 1894 by Julius Ernst Sill in Nuremberg, since 1994.
Berndt Zingrebe, born in Göttingen, is a production expert with international experience. He recognized the signs of the time and pushed the medium-sized business from simple lens manufacturer into a successful manufacturer of high tech optical components and high precision lenses. Today Sill Optics is the market leader in many areas of industrial production of precision optics for machine vision as well as for laser components, medical technology and metrology.

In 2004 Optolyth Optik a manufacturer of Binoculars and Spotting scopes was bought. The production was relocated to Wendelstein with the remaining employees. Sill Optics is an impressive example for securing jobs and location in Germany in a social manner. Berndt Zingrebe has been awarded to the "Job Star" Award of the Nuremberg region in 2002 for his exemplary corporate management.

A closer look at the job situation reflects the positive development of the company. Since 1994 the number of employees has risen from 49 to 177 today. Sill Optics is currently training 24 apprentices.

Since October 2011 Sill Optics has commissioned a further extension to its production facilities. With this extension Sill Optics has a production area of approximately 7500m², which will enable us to satisfy our customers’ requirements for high quality optical components better.

Together with Christoph Sieber who has been appointed to general manager at Sill Optics in July 2011, Berndt Zingrebe wants to continue to be an innovative and reliable business partner for his customers and offer secure jobs for his employees.
