Extension of the production facilities

Sill Optics has commissioned a further extension to its production facilities. To mark the occasion, the Management Board invited all of the staff to the ground-breaking ceremony in the Wendelstein industrial zone on Friday, September 16, 2011. During the ceremony, Berndt Zingrebe explained that the extension project included a 550 m² addition to the mechanical production facilities, and a further building offering 1,200 m² over three floors for the production of precision aspheres, additional warehousing space, and a personnel center. Together with this extension, the usable area for development, production and administration will total 7,200 m², which will enable us to satisfy our customers’ requirements for high quality optical components better. Sill Optics now employs 173 people and is currently training 24 apprentices in the fields of precision optics, precision engineering, and business management. The shell is scheduled for completion by the end of 2011, and production should start in summer 2012 in the new premises.
