First Stone Laying with Stile
On the 20th January 2012 Sill Optics celebrated the groundbreaking of its new production facility. True to the style of an optic - mechanical company the urn, usually made from copper, was assembled by large lens parts. The event was engraved on the black outer surface telling information about Sill Optics and a regional daily newspaper was added. Of course, inside the urn some coins and money were stored, as "provisions", to proof that the financing plan of this project is secured.
Within the last six years the additional construction work has become necessary in order to meet customers’ needs more quickly and to develop technological improvements with new machines. The space is needed for the expansion of production especially to manufacture precision aspheric lenses. New machines and measuring tools in excess of € 2 million will be placed on the new space. The hall reserved for mechanical production has a size of 550m², while the tower building provides 1200m² on 3 levels for the production of aspheric lenses, storage space and a stuff rest room. The construction work should be completed in summer 2012. With this extension, Sill Optics has a production area of approximately 7500m ².
Builder Berndt Zingrebe welcomed as guests: District Administrator Herbert Eckstein, Mayor Werner Langhans, Head of Devision for Construction Uwe Babinsky and Plant Manager of the public utility company Herbert Wild. The construction company was represented by Xavier and Peter Schalk with construction manager Mr. Ramsenthaler.
