Additive manufacturing has been used for much more than just the production of prototypes. As not only polymers but also metals can be processed using 3D printing, the manufacturing process is also used in the jewelry and luxury industry. The high degree of complexity, which enables enormous creative freedom and therefore unique pieces of jewelry, makes the process interesting for the production of luxury goods.
Sill Optics developed the S4LFT5650-292 with a focal length of 650 mm especially for this market, which can be seen as a development to the S4LFT1655-328. While the S4LFT1655-328 is suitable for infrared wavelengths, the S4LFT5650-292 is designed for green lasers with a wavelength of 532 nm. Metals such as gold and silver absorb shorter wavelengths better, which leads to a higher energy input and thus to better efficiency compared to long-wavelength lasers. Furthermore, due to the shorter wavelength, smaller focus sizes of 32 µm to 38.5 µm can be achieved in the entire field of 410 mm x 410 mm with an input beam of 20 mm. All lenses in the S4LFT5650-292 are made of highly transmissive fused silica and are coated to ensure that over 98% of the laser radiation passes through the lens. The S4LFT5650-292 is therefore also suitable for use with modern USP lasers.
As with all our lenses, individual specifications such as the focal length, the wavelength or the working distance can be modified at customer's request and thus a similar, customized lens can be requested. Please feel free to contact our engineers at any time.
